WHAT THIS IS ABOUT

This is about helping people to prosper—to feel alive—from birth to beautiful death.

At Village Company 360, we believe that health and well-being start at home, …unless we live in isolation or only with people with our same problems.

Or who are only in our life stage:

In a community of elders, odds may not be the best for neighbors to get help from neighbors with chores. And a living group of 20-somethings isn’t the place to get first-hand advice from neighbors about making a great career or relationships that last. But, …

When people of all ages live together, thriving can happen with help from everyone.

From babies who can bring a community purpose and joy, …

To older adults who can give perspective and teach skills, …

To middle-schoolers who can pump up the energy and help with techie stuff, …

To teens who can babysit and organize events, …

To working adults who can provide professional advice and / or services.

In our language, a care community = a village.

Though villages can occur wherever neighbors exist, we think multifamily housing is perfect to bring villages to life—thriving vertical villages for all ages.

Interested in making villages the norm?

So why focus on multifamily housing for villages?

For three main reasons:

1. Efficiency

2. Attainability

3. Accessibility

Multifamily housing has many dwellers, so it’s an efficient platform to unite people. It also tends offer attainable living options for people across income levels, as well as stair-free ways that people with wheelchairs or walkers, or in strollers or on stretchers, can come and go.

But, …

Putting people under one roof, or gathering them anywhere, doesn’t make a village.

It takes intentionally connecting them to each other and to services and programs.

Village Company 360 exists to make that happen.

Society is comprised of people of all ages, and the places we lived used to reflect that mix. So you could say that mixed-age villages—vertical ones in multifamily housing or horizontal ones in multi-roof neighborhoods—build on the best of what we did in the past.

We see them as a course correction for the good of all involved:

Besides everyone gaining social connection and support, …

Older adults can…

Live—and die among friends—at home and gain purpose and energy by contributing to their communities, likely at a much lower cost than in a senior home or assisted living “facility.”

Working adults can…

Gain child-, life partner- and / or parent care to allow them to earn outside the home, and / or earn by providing home health services for their neighbors.

Youth can…

Gain a sense of civic-mindedness and…the village we know it takes to raise them well.

These are some of the gains Village Company 360 is here to make happen.
